Revelstoke Mountain Resort Sets December 5 Opening for 2026/27 Ski Season

1,713 metres of vertical await skiers and riders at Revelstoke Mountain Resort this season.

One of British Columbia’s premier big-mountain ski destinations is preparing for another winter, with Revelstoke Mountain Resort set to open its 2026/27 season on Saturday, December 5, 2026.

The new season follows a summer of mountain improvements that included lift infrastructure work, terrain upgrades and continued investment in beginner facilities. Revelstoke is also expanding its family programming and Mountain Sports School offerings as the resort continues its evolution into a year-round mountain destination.

For skiers and snowboarders, however, the biggest attraction remains the mountain itself: 3,121 acres of skiable terrain, 1,713 metres of vertical and an average annual snowfall of 10.5 metres.

Mountain Improvements for the New Season

Revelstoke Mountain Resort has made several multi-year improvements designed to increase capacity and improve the experience for skiers and riders of different ability levels.

Recent projects include increased capacity at the Ripper Chair, trail widening and the introduction of the Cupcake Carpet learning zone, providing a more approachable environment for those taking their first turns.

The Mountain Sports School facility at the top of the Revelation Gondola has also been upgraded, while crews replaced the lower gondola cable ahead of the 2026/27 season as part of the resort’s continuing investment in lift infrastructure.

Revelstoke will once again open terrain progressively according to snowpack and mountain conditions. Details about which lifts and runs will be available are expected to be announced in the days immediately before opening.

Big-Mountain Skiing in British Columbia

Revelstoke has earned its reputation among experienced skiers thanks in large part to its terrain and vertical.

The resort has North America’s longest lift-served vertical, dropping 1,713 metres (5,620 feet) from top to bottom. Its 3,121 acres include four high-alpine bowls and 75 named runs, with everything from groomed pistes to glades and challenging big-mountain terrain.

For those looking to venture beyond the resort boundaries, the surrounding Revelstoke region is also known for backcountry touring and heli-skiing, including nearby operations with Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing.

The combination makes Revelstoke particularly appealing to travelers who want to build a ski trip around more than conventional resort runs.

More Options for Beginners and Families

Although Revelstoke has traditionally been associated with experienced skiers and deep-powder terrain, the resort continues to broaden its appeal to families and less experienced visitors.

Mountain Sports School programming for 2026/27 will include children’s programs, advanced clinics, freeride programs and specialty adult instruction.

The new Cupcake Carpet learning zone should also make it easier for beginners to build confidence before progressing farther up the mountain.

Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the resort plans additional family-friendly activities and programming around the village and base area throughout the winter.

Opening Weekend Starts with a Winter Welcome

The season celebrations will actually begin one day before the lifts start turning.

On December 4, Revelstoke Mountain Resort will host a Winter Welcome party, featuring fireworks and entertainment ahead of opening day on December 5.

Several additional events are already scheduled for the winter, including a Holiday Kickoff from December 17 to 20and Ski with Santa on December 24.

The resort’s Kids Ski Free program is scheduled to run from March 1 through April 30, extending the family focus into the latter part of the ski season.

Revelstoke Is Becoming a Four-Season Resort

Changes at Revelstoke aren’t limited to the ski slopes.

Development is continuing at the base of the mountain as the destination expands its appeal beyond winter sports.

Among the most significant projects is the Cabot Revelstoke Mountain Lodge, expected to open in 2027. Plans call for more than 8,500 square feet of meeting and event space as well as luxury residences.

The development will also introduce an 18-hole championship golf course, adding another major warm-weather attraction to the mountain.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort already operates a growing collection of summer experiences, including The Pipe Mountain Coaster, the Revelstoke Skywalk suspension bridge and viewing deck, hiking and sightseeing via the Revelation Gondola and an expanding network of lift-accessed and enduro-style mountain bike trails.

Planning a Revelstoke Ski Trip in 2026/27

Opening day is scheduled for December 5, but early-season travelers should remember that mountain access will depend on snowfall and conditions. Revelstoke plans to open terrain on a staggered basis, so the amount of skiable terrain available during the first days of the season may vary.

For travelers visiting later in winter, Revelstoke’s combination of substantial snowfall, extensive vertical, alpine bowls and challenging terrain continues to make it one of the standout ski destinations in Western Canada.

At the same time, investments in beginner facilities, family programming and the resort base suggest Revelstoke is working to become a destination with considerably broader appeal—both during ski season and throughout the rest of the year.
