The Hottest New Restaurant on Antiparos Opens for the Season

Casa Fistiki: An Enchanted Spot to Meet, Eat, Drink, and Be Barefoot in Paradise. The place to be on the Greek islet of Antiparos, Casa Fistiki is part Mexican, part Mediterranean, and completely magical.

The brainchild of Caro and Chris, an architect and entrepreneur who are Swiss-born and world-traveled, Casa Fistiki is the realization of a dream. It’s their dream—inspired by Caro’s time living in Mexico, they envisioned a casual paradise where barefoot gourmets enjoyed elevated Mexiterranean fare (that’s Mediterranean ingredients, Mexican recipes, all with a Casa Fistiki twist). But Casa Fistiki is also the previously unrealized dream of all the visitors to Antiparos who sought a place where they could meet over craft cocktails overlooking the sea, or lounged on a deserted beach wishing they could rustle up something to eat.

Having clinked glasses and broken bread with world travelers from Mexico City to Buenos Aires to Athens, Caro and Chris found their patch of paradise last summer in the bay of Agios Giorgios, the quieter side of the Cycladic islet of Antiparos. It had a view of Despotiko, a deserted island inhabited only by an Ancient Greek temple and a flock of sheep. And it offered a seaside locale perfect for serving grilled fish, fresh ceviche, matured beef cuts, and creative cocktails, all made up of the freshest local produce, and paired with an expertly curated wine list. In a single season, some of Casa Fistiki’s offerings—such as their corn ribs or their tuna tostada—have already become signature dishes that regulars return for again and again.

Offering a menu unlike anything else on the island—or even the archipelago—everything at Casa Fistiki is made on-site, from salsas down to the syrups in the cocktails. The innovative fare can be enjoyed over breakfast, lunch or dinner gazing over the water at Despotiko island. Dine more formally at a seaside table or lounge on a sofa for a more casual experience. And if you’re local, their bodega is stocked with wine and fresh bread to take away. Come at sunset, have a drink, and make some new friends—with your fellow travelers, Caro and Chris, or Opium, their cocker spaniel and official Casa Fistiki mascot. A Mexican-Mediterranean marvel, Casa Fistiki serves joy all summer long.
