Parliament Hill is a popular place in Ottawa and many people like to visit it to see what goes on there. However, there is something interesting about the hill itself and those that have lived there throughout the years. As early as the 1930s, there was a plaque of rats and mice that were causing problems for those who were in the Centre Block which was brand new at the time.

To deal with this issue, a colony of cats was brought in and they were built a structure to live in. These cats ended up living there for many years and they were fed by guards who were also there to clean up after them. The cat colony at Parliament Hill was closed down in 2013 but it is interesting to know that they are a part of history in this famous location for so long.
