Travel Tips: Is Cabo San Lucas Worth visiting? Oh yes!

Cabo San Lucas is one of the most beautiful cities near the Sea of Cortez in Mexico and it is often mentioned in the same breath as Acapulco or Cancun.

For good reason.

Cabo San Lucas has seen a drastic reformation over the past two decades. What was once was a mere fishing village is now one of the most popular tourist hotspots in Mexico and one, if not the most sought-after travel spots for the rich and the famous.

Let us give you a few reasons why Cabo San Lucas should be on your travel list:

The beaches (oh, the beaches…)

The beaches in Cabo San Lucas are an absolute dream that you have to experience yourself.

El Medano

First, you have the Playa El Medano, on of the main beaches, which is protected and safe to swim. The Medano starts right behind the marina and is surrounded by numerous hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes.

You can enjoy a quick snack, while taking in the tourists roaming through the marina. You can also engage in fun activites such a water skiing, banana boating or parasailing.

If you are a fan of a more lively beach, this is the one for you.

Lover’s beach

Another very popular beach is the Playa del Amor, which is also known as the “Lover’s beach” and located right near the spectacular Land’s End rock formation, which is a sight to be seen.

The Playa del Amor has wonderfully fine sand and is perfect for boat tours, snorkeling or scuba diving as the water is extremely clear.

Unfortunately, there are not many restaurants or bars. But hey, a picknick is always an option.

The beach is especially beautiful at the time of sunset. It’s a spectacle to see the sun gradually falling off of the sky while enjoying the sounds of the waves crashing into the shore and the sight of El Arco in the background.

The Climate

Cabo San Lucas has amazing weather all year long.

As it is located at the southern end of the California peninsula, right in the confluence of the Cortez-Sea and the pacific ocean, the air and sea currents make for a very nice and comfortable climate. In the summer months, the temperatures never rise above 33-35 °C, and in the winter, the temperature usually doesn’t drop below 13-15 °C.

You have 360 sunny days per year, with a few days of rain between September to November.

So you can basically visit Cabo San Lucas at any time throughout the year.

The Activities

The marina in Cabo is one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Cabo.

Aside from the aforementioned collection of  high-end restaurants and bars, it is also home to many luxury yachts, cruise ships and sport fishing boats.

There’s a yearly deep-sea fishing competition in Cabo San Lucas (around September/October) with a million dollar prize money. It’s definitely worth checking out, if you ever wanted to see some of those fishing boats in action.

You can also charter a boat here to take a trip to Lover’s beach, go whale watching or hit up one of the many vendors that offer parasailing or Flyboarding.

At night you can visit one of the many dance clubs to keep the vibe going.

Lastly, you can’t visit Cabo without visiting El Arco (Land’s End).

Years of erosion has created a spectacular formation of rocks called El Arco. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Cabo San Lucas and many people flock to this natural rock formation for whale-watching, snorkeling or a trip to Lover’s beach. Don’t skip this, as it’s an incredible and beautiful experience.

The beachfront villas

The city of Cabo is also home to several luxury beachfront villas, that will make your trip unforgettable.

The beachfront villas in Cabo San Lucas are among the most beautiful and exclusive properties in the city.

They offer mesmerizing views of the Sea of Cortez and the surrounding mountains, and are just a short walk from the best beaches (El Mendano) and the marina.

Most of these villas have private pools, high-end jacuzzis, and fully-equipped kitchens (if you like to cook).

A lot also offer optional maid, chef and concierge services, so that you  can truly relax and enjoy the vacation.

Suffice to say, the luxury hotels in Cabo are first class, but the beachfront villas are a step above. Obviously, they come with a nifty price tag, but for a once in a lifetime vacation, you may just splurge a bit, right?

Conclusion

It’s hard to not fall in love with Cabo San Lucas. It’s paradise on earth, richly adorned with nature, speckled with beautiful beaches and lightened with a very nice climate.

If it’s not on your ‘go-to’ list, it should be now.
