The Indian Ocean island of Mauritius will take center stage in new Netflix romantic comedy film, Resort To Love, released on the streaming platform on 29th July.
Filmed on location in Mauritius, the pop song-filled rom com spotlights the destination’s spectacular landscapes, beaches and natural wonders. Iconic locations featured in the film include the breath-taking mountain area and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Le Morne Brabant, and the vibrant capital of Port Louis.
Produced by internationally renowned, Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys, and starring actress, singer and songwriter, Christina Milian, alongside actors Jay Pharoah and Sinqua Walls, Resort To Love is a romantic comedy about aspiring pop star Erica (Christina Milian). Reeling from a broken engagement she takes a gig at a luxurious Mauritius island resort where her ex-fiance happens to be getting married. She tries to keep their past relationship a secret from his bride-to-be, but rediscovers her feelings for her ex.
Mauritius reopened to international travelers on 15 July and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority believes the film’s release will deliver a boost to the tourism industry as the island welcomes tourists back once again:
“We are very proud to have a thriving movie industry, which is one of the best cost-efficient promotional tools. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to Mauritius in a safe and secure environment, and the film industry will certainly showcase Mauritius’ natural beauty to the outside world, as well as citizens and residents of the island,” said Arvind Bundhun of Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.
Mauritius is a destination made for romance – with miles of white sand beaches fringed by coral reefs and surrounded by lush forests and dramatic volcanic landscape – making it the perfect setting for a love story. Lovebirds can enjoy an array of activities, from sunset horse rides along the beach to ocean boat trips, swimming in beauty spots such as Tamarind Falls or the sacred lake of Ganga Talao, to hikes through dramatic scenery such as Nicoliere Reserve or Black River Peak Park.
The destination will be opening in phases during 2021 and the first phase, from 15th July to 30th September 2021, will enable vaccinated travelers to enjoy a resort holiday on the island at selected “resort bubbles”.
