Geneva is taking its summer festival season onto the water this August, with two distinctive events transforming Lake Geneva into a stage for music, light and immersive entertainment.
From August 7 to 30, the new Rêve d’Eau festival will present a month-long program of choreographed fountains and evening light shows along the lakeside. On August 8, On the Water returns for its second edition, inviting participants to experience live electronic music from boats, paddleboards and pedal boats gathered around a floating stage.
Together, the festivals add another reason to consider Geneva for a European summer getaway, combining the city’s cosmopolitan character with the outdoor appeal of its famous lakefront.
Rêve d’Eau Transforms the Geneva Lakefront
Translating to “Water Dream,” Rêve d’Eau is a new festival bringing water, projections, light, lasers and music together at Jardin Anglais in the center of Geneva.
Running for 24 days from August 7 to 30, 2026, the festival will feature more than 70 performances, creating a constantly changing spectacle beside one of Switzerland’s most recognizable landscapes.
During the day, four-minute choreographed water displays will take place every 30 minutes between noon and 9 p.m. The frequent schedule means visitors can incorporate a performance into a day of sightseeing without having to organize their entire itinerary around the event.
After dark, the lakefront will take on a different character as fountains, colored lights, lasers, music and projections appear across a giant water screen. The complete evening productions will run for approximately 20 minutes, with two performances scheduled nightly and an additional show on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Jardin Anglais location places visitors between the Pont du Mont-Blanc and Geneva’s famous Jet d’Eau, close to restaurants, terraces and several of the city’s major attractions.
DJ Nights Beside Lake Geneva
Rêve d’Eau will also feature dedicated DJ nights on August 21 and 22. Following the evening water shows, DJs will take over the lakeside with a mix of commercial, house and electronic music as the fountains and lights continue in the background.

On the Water Returns to Geneva
While Rêve d’Eau unfolds along the shore, On the Water will place its audience directly on Lake Geneva.
Returning on Saturday, August 8, the festival is promoted as Geneva’s only event held entirely on the water. From 1 to 8 p.m., live DJs will perform from a floating stage positioned approximately 700 meters offshore between the Société Nautique de Genève and Perle du Lac.
Instead of gathering in front of a conventional stage, festivalgoers will take part from boats, paddleboards and pedal boats. The arrangement creates an unconventional floating audience surrounded by the lake, Geneva’s waterfront and the mountains beyond.
Electronic music and a 360-degree waterside setting will give the event the atmosphere of a floating summer party. The experience is designed to be communal and immersive, bringing participants together around the stage while making the lake an essential part of the festival.
