Air Italy is delighted to announce the launch today of its first direct flights to the famed city of Milan, becoming the airline’s fifth new North American destination connected with its Milan Malpensa hub.
Air Italy’s first route from Canada will be operated six times weekly (daily except Thursday) seasonally until October 25th between Toronto and Milan Malpensa, Italy’s commercial hub. .
Served with Air Italy’s Airbus A330-200, offering 24 fully flatbed seats in Business Class and 228 seats in Economy Class, the new route is the third new service planned for 2019 after the launch of new flights from Milan Malpensa to Los Angeles and San Francisco on April 3 and April 10 respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural celebrations at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Air Italy Chief Operating Officer, Rossen Dimitrov, said: “This is a very special day for me, as it is great to be home! As a Torontonian and the COO of Air Italy, I am delighted to welcome Toronto to the Air Italy network. With the largest Italian community outside of Italy, strong global relations and the economic strength of this city and region, there is enormous potential in this new service and we look forward to bringing a new customer experience offering to this market.
“Toronto and Milan are also twin cities and these cosmopolitan and multicultural cities are both important centers for trade and investment, as well as being major cultural centres. Clearly therefore, we expect a high volume of business and leisure trade in the fashion, food and culture sectors thanks to our new Toronto-Milan service in both directions.
“Moreover, Air Italy connects seamlessly with seven key Italian cities (Rome, Naples, Palermo, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Olbia and Cagliari) from its Milan Malpensa hub, which are all top destinations for summer tourism thanks to wonderful locations such as Capri and Sorrento, Taormina and the Greek Temples in Agrigento, the white beaches of Sardinia and the amazing landscape of Calabria.”
Business Class customers on board the new Toronto-Milan service will also be able to enjoy Air Italy’s completely new on-board business product that was revealed just this month on the first Milan-Los Angeles flight.
Featuring an entirely new tableware, in-flight dining menus, cutlery and chinaware that have all been specially crafted to meet travellers’ expectations, Air Italy’s Business Class passengers will also enjoy an even more elevated experience thanks to the introduction of a dining-on-demand service.
“Complementing our new product, we have our new dine-on-demand service, meaning our Business Class customers can select from our extensive à la carte menu at any time, and in any order, to create their own unique dining experience – all of which delivers yet again on our brand promise as we help our customers to – Imagine The World Differently,” added Mr Dimitrov.
Air Italy’s customers can also take advantage of the Wi-Fi service, an extensive inflight entertainment service and the personalized attention of the on-board staff.
