Cenote Spa by Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Wins 2018 World Luxury Spa Award

Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen announces that Cenote Spa by Grand Hyatt was voted Country Winner for category “Best Unique Spa Experience” in the 2018 World Luxury Spa Awards, that recently took place at Galgorm Resort & Spa in Northern Ireland.

The World Luxury Spa Awards is an annual ceremony to recognize and reward leaders in today’s evolving spa industry. Acknowledgement in any of the listed categories is the highest pinnacle of achievement. The award follows Cenote Spa’s vote as winner of the 2017 World Luxury Spa Award for “Best Unique Spa Experience”, and the “Best of 2015” Design Award from Interior Design Magazine.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award alongside some of the world’s most iconic wellness brands. Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen’s Cenote Spa is one of the most breathtaking spas in the world, and this award will inspire our team to continue striving for perfection over the coming years,” says Mariana Castaneda, Spa Manager of Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen’s Cenote Spa.

Since Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen’s opening in 2015 as the only beachfront luxury resort on Mamita’s Beach, the Cenote Spa has been a distinctive and extraordinary highlight of the resort experience. Designed by the world-renowned Sordo Madaleno architecture group, the spa seamlessly blends modern, contemporary design elements with Mayan-inspired textures and materials. It covers 6,000 square-feet underground and brilliantly captures the serenity, rejuvenation and beauty of the region’s notable cenotes. In Mayan culture, cenotes are believed to be sacred, restorative spaces that purify and cleanse the soul; this inspiration is seen throughout the spa’s intricate stonework, dramatic lighting, and textured layout.

The Cenote Spa combines water and mangroves naturally throughout eight treatment rooms and specialty facilities, which include two double suites, hydrotherapy stations, a eucalyptus steam room, fiber optic chromotherapy showers, 82ft. lap pool with a beach view, fitness center with Technogym equipment and workout studio, and full service salon. Upon entrance, guests are guided through different areas for relaxation prior to enjoying their choice of indulgent and holistic services, and treatments for massage, body and face.

Signature products used during spa services include: Aromatherapy Associates and Herbal Poultice, which are handmade linen bags filled steamed with local ingredients, such as chamomile, lemongrass, roses, orange blossom and eucalyptus. This one-of-a-kind product is kneaded and rocked over the body during specific spa treatments such as the Jiik Muuk Deep Tissue massage or the Water Lily After Sun Soothing Wrap. The heat and natural blend helps relax muscles, while the potent herbs have therapeutic effects that can reduce inflammation, promote circulation, relieve joint pain and stiffness, calm muscle spasms, improve mobility and flexibility, boost the immune system and tone the skin.

The unique design and experience extends to the rest of the resort which sits on a 460-feet stretch of beach and is just steps away from the heart of the fun on Playa’s 5th Avenue – home to delectable restaurants, trendy shopping, galleries and nightlife. Guests are encouraged to explore the expansive property, that boasts 314 guest rooms with breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea; exclusive Bridge “Air” suites; and two restaurants La Cocina and The Grill 1 26 – Playa del Carmen’s only beachfront signature restaurant. While the award-winning Cenote Spa recreates the perfect holistic sanctuary, the entire property satisfies every indulgence, while staying devoted to the wellbeing of mind, body, and spirit.
