Lisbon was voted the Best Urban Destination in Europe at the 30th European edition of the World Travel Awards, which took place in Batumi, Georgia. In the same edition were also awarded several equipment of Lisbon.
“This award strengthens Lisbon as the capital of the world. In the last two years Lisbon has been reaffirming itself as a city that values and promotes its unique identity and its traditions. Values now recognized in the election of Lisbon as the Best Urban Destination in Europe. An award that belongs to Lisboners and that contributes to the growth of our local economy,” says Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon and the Lisbon Tourism Association (ATL).
The award was received by Ricardo Clemente, from Lisbon Quake, member of the board of ATL.
The World Travel Awards, internationally acclaimed as the “Oscars of Tourism”, annually distinguish the excellence achieved by tourist destinations, hotel companies, airlines and other entities related to the tourism industry. These awards represent a seal of quality and a seal of prestige for those who excel in providing the best that the tourism industry has to offer at a global level.
