Rainforest Cruises Announce Conservation Cruises In The Peruvian Amazon For 2020

Expedition cruise specialists Rainforest Cruises announce conservation-themed Amazon River cruises in Peru, featuring special guest hosts on select departures aboard the luxury Zafiro and Delfin III vessels in 2020.

Rainforest Cruises today announced a selection of new conservation-focused river cruises in the Peruvian Amazon, featuring special guest hosts on select five-day cruise departures throughout 2020. Guests will have the rare opportunity to participate in critical pink river dolphin research and raise their awareness of conservation issues in the region.

Two voyages aboard the Zafiro vessel will be hosted by the Rainforest Trust to promote conservation awareness. A representative from the charity will lead the cruise and guests will have the opportunity to learn about their initiatives and hear from guest speakers from the local Amazon Rescue Center (CREA) about their conservation efforts, with a special focus on the vulnerable Amazonian manatee. Five-day Zafiro Rainforest Trust conservation cruises depart September 5 and December 30, 2020. Proceeds from the cruise will be donated to the Rainforest Trust’s Conservation Action Fund, a fund used to support and protect endangered species, threatened rainforests and other tropical ecosystems around the world.

The renowned marine biologist Dr. Joanna Alfaro will join two additional voyages aboard the Delfin III vessel, hosting talks about her pink river dolphin conservation research, which focuses on mitigating the unintentional catch of dolphins by fishermen. Guests will also learn how to spot and identify the dolphin species of the Amazon and will have the opportunity to accompany her as she deploys acoustic seapods to collect and record the sounds of dolphins and record water temperatures where dolphins are spotted. Five-day Delfin III dolphin conservation cruises depart March 24 and April 28, 2020 and cost from $3,769 per person.

“We’re very proud to be a Conservation Circle Partner of the Rainforest Trust, one of the world’s most effective conservation charities,” said Jeremy Clubb, Rainforest Cruises owner. “These unique conservation cruises allow guests to directly participate in conservation action and research whilst on vacation, and hopefully raise awareness to others when they get home of the importance of preserving the Amazon and its species.”

Rainforest Cruises’ conservation cruises are subject to availability and early booking is recommended. To book a conservation cruise in Peru or for details on all of Rainforest Cruises’ river cruises worldwide, please visit rainforestcruises.com.
