Storied Collection Backs Scotland’s First National Heritage Hub

Luxury travel and heritage preservation are coming together in a new partnership that aims to safeguard Scotland’s cultural legacy for future generations.

Storied Collection, a portfolio of historic estates, castles, and heritage properties across the UK, Ireland, and Europe, has announced a new heritage preservation partnership programme, naming the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland as its first partner.

The initiative forms part of Storied Collection’s five-year commitment to supporting heritage conservation and cultural education. The partnership will contribute to the Society’s ambitious £1.5 million fundraising campaign to establish Scotland’s first national heritage hub in Edinburgh.

Planned for a B-listed building on Bristo Place, adjacent to the National Museum of Scotland, the proposed heritage hub is envisioned as a central destination for research, education, exhibitions, and community engagement. The Society faces a fixed fundraising deadline of January 2027 to secure the building and bring the project to life.

The new hub is designed to address a longstanding need for accessible, independent space dedicated to Scotland’s heritage sector. In addition to housing collections and research resources, the facility will provide exhibition and meeting spaces for grassroots heritage organizations from across the country. Located within Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, the hub will benefit from exposure to millions of visitors each year, helping smaller organizations connect with broader audiences.

For Storied Collection, the partnership reflects a natural extension of its mission to celebrate and preserve the stories behind historic places. The company currently manages 37 heritage properties throughout the UK, Ireland, and Europe, representing a combined history spanning approximately 14,700 years.

“Part of our mission is to empower our members through community, and for us that also means helping ensure that the histories and legacies of the properties and the communities we operate in are cared for,” said Justin Hauge, CEO of Storied Collection. “We are inspired by the Society’s vision to create a centralized heritage hub and resource for Scotland and are honoured to partner with them in this ambitious campaign.”

Beyond financial support, Storied Collection will help promote the Society’s fundraising efforts to its network of guests and members, many of whom share a passion for historic properties and cultural preservation.

The partnership also creates opportunities to connect luxury travelers with deeper heritage experiences. Rather than simply visiting historic destinations, guests staying at Storied Collection properties will have greater access to the stories, research, and cultural context that make these places significant.

Dr. Simon Gilmour, Director of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, welcomed the collaboration, noting that both organizations share a commitment to making history accessible and meaningful.

The Society’s vision is built around the idea that Scotland’s past should be available for everyone to research, share, enjoy, and protect. Through partnerships like this, the organization hopes to expand its reach while ensuring that important heritage resources remain accessible to future generations.

The announcement marks the first step in what Storied Collection describes as a broader programme of partnerships with organizations dedicated to preserving historic places throughout the UK and Europe. As the company continues to expand its collection of heritage properties, heritage preservation itself is becoming a central part of the travel experience it offers.

For travelers increasingly seeking meaningful connections with the places they visit, initiatives like this highlight how luxury hospitality can play a role not only in celebrating history, but also in helping protect it.
